polly put the kettle on we'll all have tea

 After weeks of moaning about this weather I have finally embraced it, just as I'm getting used to it the sun goes in, but yesterday I enjoyed it for the first time. After a long and hot night shift I attended my brothers end of year farewell ceremony and then Mum and I headed over to Llangollen for a stop of early afternoon tea. The sun shone and we milled around the charity shops and second hand book shop, although I felt like my face was melting it was good fun to spend quality time with Momma Rinse.

Afternoon everyone, well what can I say I'm melting. I'm not one to moan (little fib) but honestly I'm fed up of this heatwave. I heard this morning that it's the driest July since 1764? How is this possible, I'm long for a summer shower so I can head out in the down pour to cool down. The only good thing about all this lovely weather is the wonderful range of summer dress and accessories on offer to brighten me up.

After hibernating over the last few days after working nights, I am back in the swing of days and back out and about in the sunshine. Today I even exposed my legs for the first time in years, I felt somewhat liberated. 

Festival Finds

This summer I am so excited to attend, in my opinion, two of the best festivals of the summer, and the best part about it is they are both hosted in two of the most beautiful locations in Wales. 

Next month I will be heading out to this years Green Man Festival in the Black Mountains, South Wales. The most exciting part of the festival season is the build up, the preparation and of course deciding what to wear.

Here are just a few items I can't live without during festival season. First and foremost the staple part of any vintage lovers wardrobe, the vintage patterned dress and I have had my eye on this one for a while. At most festivals a pair of welly boots are essential, but if by chance the weather is good to us all and the ground is dry a durable pair of Minnetonka moccasins are fashion, on trend and practical. Let's face it during a weekend rolling around in a field and being generally exposed to the elements and good lip salve is great for keep the chapped lips at bay, and of course this one also adds a hint of colour. And of course last but not least a perfect pair of vintage sunglasses to cover those tired hungover eyes.

After a little break from blogging I am back, I needed some time out to organise myself and settle into my new job. I have also finished my first year of University and I'm feeling a lot more relaxed. In my previous post I showed off the outfit I wore for the Company Style Blogger awards and as you are all aware I am obsessed with eBay. A few months ago I stumbled across the most incredible eBay store and since then I have had to restrain myself every single Sunday evening.

As you may know from my previous post and excessive posting on Twitter I attended the Company Magazine Style Blogger Awards last wednesday. It was so exciting to finally meet so many of my favourite bloggers and see some of them win well deserved awards. I thought I would share my outfit seen as the weather has most definitely improved over the last few days, just in time for my birthday too.

Over the next few month, I will be doing a series of unloved items in my wardrobe. I have chopped up my card and I am on a spending ban. In a bid to sort out my wardrobe rather than saving money, although the extra pennies at the end of the summer will be wonderful. I autumn weekend away would be nice.

This is by far my all time favourite summer dress, you will probably see me in this a lot over the next few months. I picked this up at a local charity shop this time last year and I instantly fell in love. My love for inanimate objects i.e dress is now becoming obsessive. I am worried I have a serious problem. Oh well some people spend their money on make up or partying, mine just so happens to be all three, oooops!

I've been having a little break lately (possibly the worst time, since I'm shortlisted to win Best Thrifty Blog at this years Company Style Blogger Awards) but I had to submit my final pieces of work for the end of my first year of uni, which I can now breathe a sigh of relief as it all over, that's me done for the summer. I have been a little down lately too, not sure wether that has something to do with the extra pressures of getting my work in on time (something I have never been very good at - time keeping) I have been attempting to de stress, but it's proven more difficult than I first anticipated. I need a holiday, somewhere fun and pretty, with plenty of adventures. Today I dusted off my 35mm camera and went out for a little walk to the stream, the sun shone and I felt relaxed for the first time in at least two weeks.

The minute I dug out my favourite pair of vintage sunglasses the weather decided to take a turn for the worse. Rain has poured for days now and it's back to the frizzy hair and soggy feet. I wanted to jazz up myself today and cheer myself up a bit. I'm back at uni and the work is suddenly piling up again, this year has felt a bit of a cop out really, I'm not sure I'm getting my monies worth this year, lets hope next year improves slightly.

I have exciting things in the works which should keep me occupied over the summer (if it decides to make an appearance.) Festivals, conventions and hopefully a little holiday somewhere new and exciting.

I picked this dress up from my local Salvation Army in their sale for about 99p I wasn't really intending to wear it really, I wanted to use the material to make some cushion covers as I thought it was a little big for me and not flattering at all. But once I'd given it a wash and a good iron (the material is hard to work with) I realised it was a lot better than I had first anticipated. 

I chucked on my VERY favourite vintage belt, which is my all time favourite item in my wardrobe and voila, instantly nipped in at the waist. I will probably wear this outfit more in summer, as its a great length (I'm certainly not a fan of anything above the knee with bare legs)  

I'm sure you guys are fed up hearing about the Rimmel Apocalips but I have to mention it because it is my favourite lip colour ever. I am addicted to the shade Luna, which is a creamy peachy coral. I wont leave the house without it, it looks great with everything and really suits my complexion. I purchased them all as soon as they were released and like them all but the one I always reach for is Luna. Well done Rimmel for creating another product I can add to my holy grail list.

To say I've had a lazy day is an understatement, my life has somewhat been that of a cat, eating, sleeping and generally lazing around. I'm now enjoying a night in with the best ones watching movies eating soup, my life remains as mundane as ever, the best it can be in my opinion.

I have a busy weekend planned, joining the gym, vintage dress shopping and of course gin drinking. A new soul bar is opening in town tomorrow night, I am looking forward to having a dance with good friends. 

This dress is not weather appropriate I know but I found it in the Topshop sale a few weeks ago and had to share it. A whole five pounds well spent if I say so myself.

A story of some Seattle-ites & their twee indie record.


This week I am ill and this cold weather is really taking it's toll on my skin and my immune system, I needed warming up, cheering up & waking up from my winter hibernation.
So I know I haven't been up on my mix tapes for the last few weeks, I have been really busy doing nothing to be honest. I'm still not sure which way to take this blog, it seems a bit mixed right now, I am truly Miss Indecisive. I love music and when I was working in Holland, my Sunday morning mix used to get many compliments, which was a great ego boast, as I have been told in the past I like depressing music, so what if I do, the music I like is eclectic, emotive & always meaningful.

This week I am so delighted to introduce you guys to Seapony. A dreamy summer pop band from Seattle. I stumbled across these a few days ago on Youtube, I happen to always just stumble across these new bands lately and I'm loving it. Their debut album Go With You is easily described as infectious. The pillowy guitar and wispy soprano vocals are delivered with childlike melancholy and wonderment. The insanely safe album does have a slight tendency to bleed into one. But for me an easy listening album, and not to be scrutinised so closely, but if you are to pick and pull apart this album you could say it was samey. The overcast sounds draw you in to their indie simplicity. Perfect for dragging your chilly mood up during this ever so depressing Winter we are having here in the UK. With similar sounds to band such as Beat Coast, The Field Mice & The Dum Dum Girls, this twee indie sound is possibly my favourite right now, warming my ears and heart this winter, longing for beaches, camp fires and festivals...bring on the summer!

So dust off your picnic baskets and get your sunscreen and sunglasses at the ready.

Summer is not far off.
