The Green People : Volumising Mascara

I have been a fan of The Green People for sometime ever since I discovered their cream cleanser (which is part of my daily skincare) ALL the products I have tried have the same intoxicating scent of geraniums which just happens to be my favourite. From the name of the company I really don't need to rabbit on about how green they are but this mascara is made without any nasties and of course hasn't been tested on our little fury friends. It promises to lengthen and volume and the new formula includes natural micro spheres which guarantees volume and it doesn't disappoint believe me. 

Being fair my eyelashes are none existent and I have contemplated having my lashes tinted but have always decided against it always at the last minute, something just doesn't seem quite right about putting a dye that close to my eyes. I have been using this in Black and the coverage is great and the wand applies without getting it all over my eye lid which I often find with volumising mascaras due to the fact the wands are so big.

The wand is perfect for application and volumises from the root of the lashes instead of clumping at the ends. It equally applies and you don't need to spend hours in front of the mirror. Compared to some drug store mascaras you may feel it doesn't last as long. Once applied my eye lashes are covered but their not hard and this in my opinion is ten times better than having spider legs on your face, so for me I prefer this to other longer lasting mascaras.

I will definitely be purchasing this product and many other for their make up range.

Evolve

If you don't already know I have dry/ sensitive skin that can be flaky and itchy although it has improved since coming off my medication but I still suffer from time to time and it's a pain, I can hardly apply fake tan or gradual tanners as it clogs and looks awful. I have a few go to moisturisers and prescribed emollients but I am always on the look out for something different.  

Evolve embody everything you would expect from an organic natural beauty range, cruelty free, recycled materials and a passion to create products that really work. I stumbled across their website while researching natural beauty and just had to give it a go. I usually always start with a moisturiser when trying out a new range and this product didn't let me down. Firstly it smells amazing, there is only one thing that comes to mind when I apply this, and somehow I am taken back to a childhood birthday party. It smells like icing, not a scent you would usually want smothered all over your body but it's wonderful and fresh and in no way sickly.

I have been using this product for a good few months now and I love it, it melts perfectly into the skin and its not too thick. I often find products designed for dry/ sensitive skin are heavy and a pain to apply but it glides beautifully over your skin and a little goes a long way. I am excited about this brand and would love to try some more of what evolve have to offer, I'm nearing the end of my shampoo and conditioner, will definitely be stocking up on more evolve products come pay day.

OOTD

Bibico.

A story of organic clothing.

Hello Folks, 

Today is my very first OOTD post & I am extremely nervous posting this one,

 I was kindly sent some beautiful garments from Bibico last week to review. Bibico are an ethical company producing effortless fashion items from quality natural materials and being produced in fairtrade countries. 

The quality of the items I chose were something else, soft and well made. I kindly requested the Boating Stripe Tunic in medium blue, their famous Wrap Dress and Boyfriend Cotton Cardi. 

They arrived beautiful packaged in super quick time with a wonderful postcard note from Nieves  who has been working almost single handedly along side her husband since creating this brand in 2007. Nieves background in designing is extensive, after becoming more aware of the social & environmental impact on the fashion industry Nieves could see that she could combine fashion and fairtrade. You can purchase Bibico online and retails in stores across the UK & Europe also you can find Bibico's concessions range at Topshop, Oxfors Circus.

Being a Plus Size Girl and proud of it the Wrap Dress unfortunately didn't fit, I was blessed with a rather large chest so anything that zips up the side is a no go for me. 

I fell in love instantly with the Boating Stripe Tunic the fit was lovely, it was comfy and so soft. This tunic is 100% cotton, the button detail on the back is quirky and wonderfully nautical. I have always been a huge fan of stripes, maybe I was destined to be a sailor, but I lack the ability to swim!

Tea Time.

Earl Grey & Poppy Seed Muffins with Marmalade Glaze

4 Fairtrade Earl Grey Tea bags (or about 4 tsp loose tea leaves)
250ml (1 cup) milk
375g (2 1/2 cups) self-raising flour
155g (3/4 cup) caster sugar

1 tbsp poppy seeds
125g butter, melted
2 eggs, lightly whisked (homegrown)
To glaze or serve: Marmalade (homemade)

NOTE: Source Fairtrade, Organic or locally sourced produce where possible!!

Anyone who knows me will tell you how much I adore Earl Grey I am super obsessed, I usually like to enjoy my brew with a few homemade Ginger Snap biscuits, but I haven't made any for such a long time as my man friend can't abide ginger in any shape or form. I love baking and have been slightly neglecting it of late so when I saw this I was tingling with excitement and I just had to give it a go.

Firstly preheat your oven to 180C (350F) Then line your baking tray with squares on baking paper, I like to do it this way but you can always use cake cases they work just aswell. Lightly simmer the milk in a pan until almost boiling then add the tea bags and place to one side to allow those wonderful flavours infuse into the milk. In a large mixing bowl add all the dry ingredients, sifted flour, poppy seeds & caster sugar and mix them all up. Then combine in the milk mixture (minus the tea bags ;) butter and eggs and whips them all together until the mixture is smooth and scrummy. Spoon the mixture into the pre lined cake cases and bake for 25 minutes.

Try your very best not to over cook because they will be awfully dry.

 Remove from the oven and the baking try and allow to cool on a wire rack!

Beautiful Muffins

For the marmalade glaze add the jam to a small saucepan over a medium heat and warm gently until runny, then when the muffins are still warm glaze the tops....yumm!

You must enjoy these with a pot of tea and a natter with friends, it's a must.

Green.

Let's go Green.

A story of introducing a change.

Becoming aware of a healthy lifestyle can be a major shift in your day to day life at first. Routine is hard to break. When you do your weekly shop you know exactly where to find the convenience foods but when asked to find something organic I doubt any of us would know where to begin. Is it that easy to ignore the fact that our bodies are being exposed, inside and out to toxic ingredients? Can we snap into a green lifestyle that easily? Only you can decide when and how you begin this life changing process, not only to improve your general health but also begin to educate your children how to live a sustainable lifestyle. Educate being the key word! 

From the food we eat to the make up we apply on a daily basis making small changes to the way we think, can certainly improve our attitude towards going green. Wouldn't you like to know where your evening meal has come from, I find I enjoy cooking more knowing the ingredients are fresh and full of flavour, and of course packed with nutrience.

My main aim is to encourage people in my local area to go Green, how to source foods locally and soon they will realise their energy level are increased and they will hopefully begin to see this as a positive change!

No, neither have I!

Here are my five top tips to making small changes to your current lifestyle:

Introduce five or more portions of organic fruit and vegetables to your diet every day.

Drink plenty of water.

Practice deep breathing.

Exercise regularly.

Look after your digestive system.

You will instantly begin to notice a remarkable difference to your skin, hair, nails energy levels & even mental clarity. So why not give it a go.

Going Green, Beauty Queen.

A Story of a great company.

This week I have been delighted to have some great offers to review some fabulous organic products, ranging from beauty products to delectable teas. I couldn't believe how kind and responsive these companies have been. It had taken me a while to find my blogging niche but I decided that the items I feel most strongly about are Organic and Fair Trade products and of course knitting, and I thought why not combine the two together in one place. 


The very first item I received was from one of my all time favourite organic skin care companies The Green People. From humble beginnings this brand is now the major Organic retailers in the UK and I am always drawn to their innovative products and commitment to offer us products that are 100% natural, gentle, organic & highly effective. They truly know what they believe in and they stick to that for sure.

It looks great, I received a 200ml bottle of Gentle Cleanse Make up Remover & Cleanser, 100% recycled packaging, simple but effective design including great skin tips to motivate you to live a healthier lifestyle oh and I just love the pump bottle (my obsession on pump action bottles is increasing by the day) Unlike other brands I always find Organic products print their ingredients proudly and The Green People are no exception to this rule. 

I am a regular user of cream cleansers as I have very dry skin, I fell in love instantly with it's fragrance, it reminds me of geraniums my favourite flowers which I found a coincidence, do The Green People know me that well? I used a generous amount and applied all over my face, it glided beautifully over my face, sometimes I find cleansers to be too heavy and swamp my face, but the light heavenly cream was just the right balance. I massaged it into my skin and then washed it off with warm water and muslin cloth. Claiming it removes all traces of make up it doesn't lie. I have very fair eyelashes so I know if there are any stubborn traces of mascara. I was more than happy with the result. After using this product for a few days I have most definitely added this to my daily routine, my skin is brighter, smoother & certainly hydrated. I do suffer with terrible dry skin on my eyelids (am I the only one because I'm sure that's a little odd) but that is virtually non existent after only a few days, I can finally start wearing eye shadow again. 

Just to mention a few of my favourite ingredients, Palm Oil, Hemp Oil, Chamomile Extract & Rose Geranium Oil (which also happens to be fairtrade) This Product is made with 93.7% certified organically grown ingredients, and to no surprise I'm sure they do no test on our little furry friends.


Overall Thoughts.

Transformed my dry flaky skin into dewy, bright & smooth to touch. Even my man friend noticed the difference so there you go girls that must be an incentive. My newly supple skin is a true fan of this product. My Make up now glides onto my skin with ease, no more clumping and tell tale dry skin patches. I feel that this product would suit all ages and all skin types. Gentle to the eyes (as a contact lense wearer) I am very concious of making sure my eyes are also well looked after.

- Pump action allows a little too much out at once causing slight wastage.
(I have sat here thinking of negatives and I really can't)
