Today, Joni Mitchell celebrates her 70th birthday. An icon of folk music, Joni's heartbreaking music has been a firm favourite of mine since I discovered the album Blue, at a vinyl fair in my teens. Her poetic lyrics and beautifully perfect accompaniment tells tales of life, love and loss. Here I would like to pay tribute to an inspiring individual who's music has seen me through the best and worst of times in my life. If you have never heard of Joni before, I suggest you find a quite spot, grab a brew and enrich your mind with some folk beauty, here's the best place to start.
