Cable & Cotton | Review

I know I haven't been around much lately and I would firstly like to apologise. It's time to have a little life update I think. Most of you wont know this but for a long time I have suffered, on a regular basis from chronic pain and fatigue. After numerous hospital admissions and test upon tests, the results always came back inconclusive. Each time I felt dejected, misunderstood and frankly a little bit crazy. I tried everything to ignore my problems but low and behold after months of feeling tip top, my mysterious illness would return, each time worse than before. Chronic fatigue, excruciating pain in my joints, muscle weakness and depression and anxiety. After eight years I finally got some answers and a diagnosis.

If you have any of these symptoms then you may have already heard of the chronic illness, Fibromyalgia. Generally this illness affects women between the ages of 16 - 50. There is nothing specific that health care professionals can pin point as being the cause. Some suggest a trauma, either emotional or physical could cause the hormones to become more sensitive. You find your immune system doesn't work as it should either. I have briefly spoken about the symptoms so I wont go into details but after researching, the first thing I came across was how long it actually takes your Doctor to make a definite diagnosis. There is no blood tests or scans they can do, it's basically a process of elimination and often those processes can be upsetting and emotionally invasive. The day I got my diagnosis, I had mixed emotions. I cried a lot, both happy and sad tears. The emotional rollercoster lasted a good few days, I had never felt so relieved but knew I had a lot of work to do. There is no cure or medication that will get rid of Fibromyalgia. Having read up on my condition, I have found some home remedies that can relieve the day to day pains. Swimming, hydrotherapy pools and relaxation practices are all great ways to stay in control of your body and mind, and we all know how relaxed we feel after emptying our minds of daily stresses.

A good nights sleep is imperative, so we decided to revamp the bedroom and a splash of colour and atmospheric lighting was a must. I had seen a review of these Cable & Cotton lights on Stephanie Dreams blog and I just had to have them. The great thing about these fairy lights is you are in charge. You can choose from over thirty unique colours, such as lime green that certainly packs a punch or a subtle ivory for that minimalist look. They arrive beautifully packaged and ready to arrange on the transparent string, and for those of you who think you couldn't be bothered with the faff, never fear it's so easy and take seconds. The cotton shades reminded me of balls of wool. And considering Blue Rinse was born through and interest of knitting, I thought you guys would appreciate the connection. You can arrange the colour as you wish, even with the pre selected ones so the world of lights is your oyster, let's get creative.

I realise this has been a mixed bag and I'm sorry if I've bored you but I think I needed to raise awareness of Fibromyalgia. If you think you may be suffering from some of the symptoms then please go to your doctors and tell them all about it, keep a daily pain diary, is your pain worse in the morning? or worse on a hot day? Anything you can show them will help get that all important diagnosis. Check out the NHS website for advice of if you need to catch head over the Fibromyalgia Association Forum.

Take care guys and I'm always here for a chat, about anything.
